Step By Step’s mission is to commit itself to enhancing the quality of life and personal growth of those they serve. With a history stretching over 40 years, and a client base in excess of 2,000 individuals, Step By Step remains a pioneer in the development of community group homes. Their mission is to continue delivering a broad spectrum of services, administered by a multi-disciplined staff of professionals, which leverage digital technologies to improve their efficiencies, community-reach, and collaboration.

Approach

Step by Step engaged Weidenhammer to provide a strategic assessment of its infrastructure, security, systems, and processes. While all of our engagements are based on industry best practices such as, ITIL, ISO 20000, SANS, and NIST, our consultants engage the client through various methods including interviews with leadership and management staff. Our goal is to highlight an organization’s individual goals and to ensure they are incorporated throughout every step of our roadmap. We provided a detailed SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analyses for each area—with a focus on their IT capabilities, i.e., network, servers, wireless capabilities, applications, systems, and security. We kept a keen eye on maintaining compliance with many regulations, such as HIPAA, that are required by organizations such as Step by Step.

Results

The assessment lead to the implementation of a technology plan that gave Step By Step a roadmap to digital transformation. Our digital strategy included the use of cloud systems/platforms, the upgrades of infrastructure, improved processes/policies, and the implementation of a formal Technology Steering Committee. This committee will be critical in the digital decision making for Step By Step. Weidenhammer has remained engaged to assist Step By Step in a Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) capacity. Our vCIO engagement continues to spearhead efforts related to IT and Cyber Security Governance, IT Project Management, Vendor Management, and other duties as assigned by Step By Step’s leadership team.
