Another year, another glowing assessment of Microsoft’s Analytics and Business Intelligence platform, Power BI.

For the 4th year in a row, Microsoft has ranked among the highest in the coveted Leaders Quadrant within Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms. With the determined need for corporate data analytics and insights showing no signs for slowing down, Microsoft continues to put an immense amount of focus on data and their BI cloud platform. In the recently released 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant report, the heavy hitter in the industry continued with the usual “big three”: Microsoft, Salesforce, and Qlik – with Microsoft raking quite high in the Leaders quadrant above the other two.

The report expressed Gartner’s love for Microsoft Power BI’s ease of use and price point. I can attest that these factors certainly make it a favorite for Hammer Dev’s clients: the familiar “Excel-like” user experience, coupled with some of the most advanced analytic capabilities is a major deciding factor for our customers. The comparatively low costs of Power BI continue to be another no-brainer among companies Hammer Dev services – Salesforce (Tableau) has not done themselves any favors with their elevated pricing models.

Other accolades from the report speak to one of my favorite attributes of Microsoft’s platform – it’s continued full-feature integration with not only all aspects of Azure and M365, but many other SaaS services. With Power BI’s inclusion in what Microsoft calls Power Platform (along with Power Apps and Power Automate, two other business application platforms near and dear to our heart here at Hammer Dev), it is absolutely clear that Microsoft (and Hammer Dev) sees data and data insights as a direct extension of business processes, and more importantly, business process improvement.
