Kind Water Systems is a direct-to-consumer brand specializing in whole-home water filtration and salt-free softening systems. Their anchor products–the E-3000 Whole-Home Filter, E-3000UV (with UV purification), and an under-sink reverse osmosis system–are built in the USA, backed by a lifetime warranty, a 120-day money-back guarantee, and thousands of five-star reviews. Kind Water serves American homeowners who want cleaner, better-tasting water without the complexity and expense of traditional systems.
The Challenge
Problem Statement: Kind Water’s WooCommerce site was due for a refresh. The storefront theme and WooCommerce platform were not optimized for subscription revenue. The overall design was dated and the user experience was in need of an overhaul.
Impact: Without a subscription-optimized storefront, Kind Water was underutilizing its filter replacement revenue stream. The existing WooCommerce site lacked native subscription tooling, and the mobile experience was not converting the majority of traffic. The platform needed to be rebuilt to capture recurring revenue and improve mobile conversion.

Goals
Objective: Migrate form WooCommerce to Shopify Plus to unify the DTC storefront, subscription management, and B2B installer portal on a single platform. Improve mobile user experience and conversion rates. Streamline the subscription purchase and fulfillment flow. Build an easy-to-use production environment that allows non-technical team members to maintain the site after the core development ends.
Metrics: Revenue per visit, conversion rate (focused on direct-to-site traffic), Google Lighthouse performance scores (LCP, FCP, TBT, CLS), user engagement metrics (scroll depth, time on page), and subscription attachment rate.
Together, We Forged Ahead
Weidenhammer led a full platform migration from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus, launched on December 10, 2025. The engagement encompassed:
- Storefront theme development
- Data migration (orders, customers, subscriptions)
- 301 redirect mapping
- DNS cutover
- Recharge subscription integration with phased migration plan
- Design and build of a B2B Installer Portal using Shopify Plus native B2B capabilities (company profiles, catalogs, tiered pricing)

Tools and Technolgies
- Shopify Plus (platform)
- Recharge (subscriptions)
- Yotpo (reviews)
- Klaviyo (email marketing)
- Shopify Flow (automation),
- Matrixify (data migration)
- Google Lighthouse
- Microsoft Clarity (performance monitoring)
Implementation
Phase 1: Data migration from WooCommerce via API, theme customization, subscription integration (new subscriptions only post-launch). Migration of existing PayPal subscriptions (2 weeks post-stabilization), followed by all Stripe subscriptions.
Phase 2: B2B Installer Portal buildout–migrating hundreds of installer profiles from the legacy AWS system into Shopify Plus native B2B.
Ongoing: Performance optimization, mobile UX audit, and 301 redirect verification.
Results
The before and after comparison showcases how optimizing the user experience created a cleaner navigation, a distinct user journey, and improved the site visually with updated colors and hierarchy.

Outcome
The new Shopify Plus storefront launched successfully on December 10, 2025, consolidating DTC sales, subscriptions, and B2B operations onto a single platform. The subscription flow was modernized so that orders now charge and ship on the same day, matching industry-standard behavior.
Benefits
Consolidated DTC, subscriptions, and B2B onto a single Shopify Plus instance, eliminating a separate AWS-hosted installer portal. Subscription orders now charge and ship same-day, replacing a disjointed fulfillment flow. Non-technical team members can now manage site content and merchandising without developer support.
Quantitative Data
The redesigned subscription offering drove a 108% increase in new customer subscription attachment. Returning customer subscription rates also improved, strengthening the recurring revenue base.
Site engagement metrics reflected the UX and navigation changes: time on site increased 9% and pages per session rose 5%.
ADDITIONAL WINS
- Improved Google Lighthouse page speed scores post-launch by 32% on desktop and 24% on mobile
- 9% increase on time on site
- 5% increase on pages per session
- Notable improvements include desktop Total Blocking Time dropping from 820ms to 160ms (now within the sub-200ms target)
- Mobile First Contentful Paint improving from 4.0s to 1.7s.
CONCLUSION
Summary: Kind Water Systems partnered with Weidenhammer to migrate from a legacy WooCommerce platform to Shopify Plus, unifying their DTC storefront, subscription management, and B2B installer portal. The migration resolved critical issues with mobile performance, subscription fulfillment, and platform fragmentation, while delivering measurable improvements in site speed and operational efficiency.
Future Plans: Kind Water will continue working with Weidenhammer on Phase 2 priorities, including mobile UX optimization, conversion rate testing, and expansion of the B2B installer portal functionality.
