Gaudenzia is one of the nation’s larger nonprofit providers of addiction treatment and recovery services, with more than 80 locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C., serving roughly 19,000 individuals each year. As the organization continued to expand, its technology environment became harder to manage, spread across multiple vendors, aging systems, disconnected workflows, and separate Microsoft 365 environments. Weidenhammer partnered with Gaudenzia across multiple initiatives to simplify operations, improve visibility, strengthen security, and build a more scalable foundation for the future.

Dated Infrastructure
Gaudenzia came to Weidenhammer with a complex infrastructure environment that included overlapping vendors, aging network technologies, limited centralized visibility, and rising costs. When performance issues, outages, or change requests arose, responsibility was often unclear and resolution could be slow. Weidenhammer worked with Gaudenzia to standardize its network on Cisco Meraki, including LAN refresh and SD-WAN, with the goal of giving the organization a single, cloud-based management experience across its distributed footprint. This approach was designed to simplify troubleshooting, improve network stability, and reduce the operational burden on a lean internal IT team.
Alongside the network refresh, Weidenhammer also supported the modernization of Gaudenzia’s physical security environment. The organization had multiple aging camera systems across its locations, creating blind spots, inconsistent management, and difficulty retrieving footage quickly when needed. By standardizing on Meraki cameras and aligning that deployment with the broader network strategy, Gaudenzia gained a more unified approach to both connectivity and site visibility, managed through the same platform and better suited for a multi-location organization with limited IT resources.
Microsoft 365 & Security Modernization
Weidenhammer’s work with Gaudenzia also extended into Microsoft 365 modernization. One major initiative involved consolidating a smaller Office 365 tenant into Gaudenzia’s primary Microsoft 365 environment. The results were:
- Simplified administration
- Improved consistency
- More secure and streamlined user experience
That work included discovery and design, migration planning, mailbox and OneDrive migration, domain transition, and post-cutover support.
“By standardizing infrastructure, strengthening Microsoft 365 security, and modernizing critical workflows, Gaudenzia gained a stronger, more manageable foundation for supporting its mission across dozens of locations.”
Powerful Automation
Beyond infrastructure and security, Weidenhammer helped Gaudenzia modernize important operational workflows using Microsoft’s cloud platform. One early engagement focused on redesigning its incident reporting process, which had grown difficult to manage due to inflexible forms, manual email entry, limited reporting, and workflows tied to individual user accounts rather than organizational ownership. Weidenhammer redesigned that process using Power Platform best practices, including Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint-based data structures, and service-account governance, creating a more sustainable foundation for future workflow modernization.
Additional workflow work supported time-sensitive reporting needs, including form-based processes and COVID-related tracking enhancements. Across these efforts, the consistent objective was to replace manual, fragmented processes with solutions that were easier to manage, easier to scale, and better aligned to the way Gaudenzia operates.
A Stronger Foundation for Growth
Taken together, these initiatives reflect a broader partnership focused on helping Gaudenzia reduce complexity and operate with greater confidence. From network and camera standardization to Microsoft 365 consolidation, endpoint security, and workflow automation, Weidenhammer helped create a more unified technology foundation, one designed to support a distributed care organization whose mission depends on reliability, security, and operational agility every day.
