John P. Weidenhammer is Chairman, CEO and Founder of Weidenhammer Systems Corporation. John graduated from Reading High School in 1967 and Lehigh University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Upon graduating college, he worked as a Project Leader with a focus on the development of on-line production management systems for Carpenter Technology, a specialty steel manufacturer. He later moved on to Ernst & Young as a Management Consultant, where he travelled extensively assisting EY clients in areas related to IT Strategy, software development best practices, mergers and acquisitions, operations research and application of internal controls to data systems.
In 1978, John decided to start Weidenhammer Systems Corporation. The original concept behind the business was to provide a resource for assisting organizations, large and small, with the successful implementation and deployment of information systems – essentially to fill the void between manufacturers of information technology, and the ultimate consumer. Weidenhammer celebrates 48 years in business this year and is among the 500 largest information technology companies in America and has customers across the United States and globally.
John is not only a leader in the information technology industry, but also in the local community, where he has been a supporter of the United Way, and other non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the boards of the Reading Hospital, Tower Health Partners, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, the Berks Business Education Coalition, the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Colebrookdale Railroad and is the current chairman of the Reading Hospital Foundation. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Albright College. John was selected to receive the Gene Shirk Community Service award from BCTV, the Philadelphia Business Journal Technology Disrupter Award, the Corporate Executive of the Year in 2018 by the Lehigh Valley Business Journal and the Community Service Award in 2017 by Centro Hispano. In 2019, John and his wife Nadine received the Spirit of Reading Award from the Salvation Army. John was recognized by Alvernia University receiving the Franciscan Award and the Lehigh Valley Business Journal Icon Award.
